お世話になった教授が亡くなられた。１ヶ月半ほど前にまた教壇に戻るよとメールを頂いた矢先だけに、癌を克服したのかと考えていた。それからわずか１ヶ月半ほどで帰らぬ人になるとは…　彼ほど学生に好かれていた教授も珍しい。だれからともなく，教授にハグを求め，生徒全員とハグをしてセメスターの授業をしめた教授はただ彼，一人。亡くなる直前まで教壇に立ち，学生達に愛情を与え続けたDr. Dobbins，ご冥福をお祈りします。生き続けるということは様々な可能性があるということ，このことが身にしみます。財を築きあげることより，周囲の人と，経験を分かち合い，喜怒哀楽の記憶をともにすること。彼には学問よりも人としての生き方を多く教わった気がします。

In sure and certain hope of the resurrection to eternal life through our Lord Jesus Christ, we commend to Almighty God our brother Dr. Dobbins; and we commit his body to the ground; earth to earth, ashes to ashes, dust to dust. The Lord bless him and keep him, the Lord make his face to shine upon him and be gracious unto him and give him peace. Amen.
